O well-beloved ones! The tabernacle of unity hath been raised; regard ye not one another as strangers. Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 218)
The hope is cherished that ye may obtain true education in the shelter of the tree of His tender mercies and act in accordance with that which God desireth. Ye are all the leaves of one tree and the drops of one ocean. (Bahá’u’lláh, Tablets of Baha’u’llah, p. 27)
The most glorious fruit of the tree of knowledge is this exalted word: Of one tree are all ye the fruit, and of one bough the leaves. Let not man glory in this that he loveth his country, let him rather glory in this that he loveth his kind. Concerning this We have previously revealed that which is the means of the reconstruction of the world and the unity of nations. Blessed are they that attain thereunto. Blessed are they that act accordingly. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 127)
It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 250)
And amongst them [is this]: “The fairest tree of knowledge is this sublime word: ‘Ye are all the fruit of one tree and the leaves of one branch.’ Pride is not for him who loves his country, but for him who loves the [whole] world.” (‘Abdu’l-Bahá, A Traveler’s Narrative)
There’s a highly educational segment on National Geographic’s Naked Science program called Prehistoric Americans. Genetic testing clearly shows that those we deem “Native Americans” are a mixture of most of the world’s races and date back on this continent at least 45,000 years. I suspect the same is true of any and all other groups of people. Scientists are close to proving that practically every human on earth today descends from only a handful of people. Geneticists can trace a specific mutation on the Y-chromosome back to its singular origins. A supervolcano eruption in the Indonesia area 73000 years ago wiped out most land animals and probably all but a couple of thousand human survivors in Africa and India. We all descend from them and are utlimately one family and one human race. The quotations I cited were originally written over a century ago before anyone else had such an all encompassing view of the human family.
